We are hoping to run another holiday club in the summer( (on either the first or last week of July – to be decided depending when people are available) after the success of the one at Easter. TEACHING

We are starting a new series on 1 Corinthians, and we’ll continue to apply the teaching in further detail at our fellowship groups. The questions from this week’s sermon are available on the website, so even if you don’t come to one of the groups you can still reflect further on how the teaching applies to your life.

MISSION OF THE MONTH

Our Mission of the month for May is Prison Fellowship. On the website is a newly updated version of the mission of the month newsletter for May, June and July. We are also collecting food for distribution at the Lighthouse. The food needs to be non-perishable. Items which are needed most are: Instant Coffee, Sugar, Tins of fruit/rice pudding/custard and tins of mince/corned beef/ham

CHRISTIAN AID WEEK

St Machar Cathedral are involved in door-to-door collections for Christian Aid Week and have asked if we as a church would like to join them. . Please let me know if you’re interested and I will put you in touch with Bill Howie who is organising this.

Prayer Points

Here are some prayer points courtesy of David Burgess from the prayer meeting on Sunday, but which can fuel all our prayers in the coming weeks!

THE MISSION

For the leadership. For more people to be drawn in under the sound of the
Gospel and for opportunities to take the word out to the people.

For those sick and laid aside and those of advanced years who are now unable to be with us on a Sunday.
We think especially of Margaret and Bill. A general thanks giving that the work is now largely complete.

CHILDREN’S WORK

For the work of Sams now taking place in the Schools and for the
leadership in Sams and for all the people dedicated to this work

INTERNATIONAL BIBLE STUDY

That they would be blessed with more
people coming along.

OPEN DOOR

For the open door starting up again soon –especially
prayer for  visitation which we will be
doing soon, that we would not only be able to encourage our regular people to
come back but also that we could encourage new people to come along .

CHRISTIAN UNION

For the C U and the work among the students
carried out here which I believe will now be on a Monday.

OUR CITY

For all our brothers and sisters in Christ especially those who are involved in
Christian work.  That the work of The Kingdom may be blessed and extended. Yes even for revival.   For all the various facilities ie
Police—NHS—Social workers—Fire services—Our local Council—-Prison services etc And perhaps above all pray for our children through out the city who may be in any danger.  Pray for protection from any evil that could touch them.

THE WORLD

C S W and the work they do around the world with persecuted Christians but they ask especially for prayer for Columbia all this week.

Christian Institute who I believe do a great work for what I would call persecuted Christians in this country.

F E B A Ask for Prayer for Iraq

Friends International

I V M  and the work of Suresh and Roja.

For family and friends and
ANY OTHER POINTS that God lays on your heart

Dedication Service and First Sunday Back

Moving back into The Mission

It’s not long to go now… in fact, it’s 9 days and counting until our Dedication Service when we move back into The Mission.

So, Sat 24th March will be a great time of celebration, praising God for his provision which enabled us to do these renovations and rededicating both the building, and more importantly ourselves to him and to his work in our area.

The evening starts at 6pm, and there are flyers available – please invite anyone you think would be interested to come along – the more, the merrier.

We’ll then be back in The Mission at 11am from Sun 25th March.

However, to enable all this to happen, there is a lot of work still to do. If anyone can come along this Saturday during the daytime, or any evening between now and Sat 24th then please do so (probably best to call myself or Alasdair first just to check that someone is in at The Mission).

Cleaning and sorting days

The renovations at The Mission are nearing an end, and in order for the church and other users to get back into the building there’s going to be a lot of cleaning, sorting and shifting needing to be done!

We’re planning to get as many people as possible down on Fri 2nd March (from 6.30pm) and Sat 3rd March (from 9.30am). No special skills are required, just a willingness to help out. The more people we get down, the quicker we’ll be able to get everything sorted and the building back ready for use.

10/01/12

Building Development

The building development work is currently scheduled to finish mid-February. There are then a few tasks which we need to do (e.g. painting and moving everything back into place) before we can move back into the building. This will happen on evenings and Saturdays during the last week of Feb and first week of March. Please set aside some time and mark it down in your diary to come along if you can.

We then aim to be back meeting in The Mission from Sun 4th March (and back to our normal time of 11am). We will have a dedication service, including a church lunch on Sun 25th March, to which everyone is invited, including friends, members of the community and building users as we rededicate our building, and more importantly ourselves to the service of God.

Please keep praying that God will lead us and guide us this new year and that he would show us how he wants us to serve him as a church community.

Also, Fellowship Groups, Prayer Meetings etc. are back up and running – have a look at the January schedule for more detail.

Finally, have you made any new years resolutions? How about checking out the suggestions at http://www.rejesus.co.uk/blog/post/new_year_checklist/
