This Sunday is an All Age Service followed by a church lunch to which all are welcome. Our Fellowship Groups will be on as usual on Monday and Tuesday. Our monthly church prayer meeting will be on next Sunday 7.30pm. Our AGM is on Thurs 21st June at 7.30pm.

We are hoping to run another holiday club in the summer( (on either the first or last week of July – to be decided depending when people are available) after the success of the one at Easter.
Here are the questions from this Sunday’s sermon – audio file to follow shortly: 1 Corinthians 1:1-9 UNITY “to the church of God in Corinth… together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” 1 Cor 1:2 ‘if we belong to God, we belong together’ 1. How does it…

Here are the questions from this Sunday’s sermon – audio file to follow shortly:

1 Corinthians 1:1-9

UNITY

“to the church of God in Corinth… together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” 1 Cor 1:2

‘if we belong to God, we belong together’

1. How does it affect your understanding of yourself as part of The Mission to know that we can be referred to as ‘the Church of God’?

2. How does it impact you to know that we are also part of the wider church of God together with everyone everywhere who believes in Jesus?

3. Are there any parts of the wider church that you find it more difficult to identify yourself together with?

PURITY

“to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be holy” 1 Cor 1:2

‘Don’t dwell in guilt or live in sin but know that you have been made holy and start acting like it’

4. Share about either:

a) A time in life where you have felt defeated by sin and overwhelmed by guilt and needed to know that you are sanctified in Christ?

b) A time when you had started to think that it doesn’t really matter how you live (i.e. to take forgiveness for granted) and you’ve need to be reminded that we are called to be holy?

SPIRITUALITY

“I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus” 1 Cor 1:4

‘Don’t write off spiritual gifts because of their misuse, but learn to use them properly’

5. Can you think of times when you have seen or heard about spiritual gifts being misused and which have put you off?

6. What do you think are the key dangers that need to be avoided in learning to use spiritual gifts properly?

Here are some prayer points courtesy of David Burgess from the prayer meeting on Sunday, but which can fuel all our prayers in the coming weeks!

THE MISSION

For the leadership. For more people to be drawn in under the sound of the
Gospel and for opportunities to take the word out to the people.

For those sick and laid aside and those of advanced years who are now unable to be with us on a Sunday.
We think especially of Margaret and Bill. A general thanks giving that the work is now largely complete.

CHILDREN’S WORK

For the work of Sams now taking place in the Schools and for the
leadership in Sams and for all the people dedicated to this work

INTERNATIONAL BIBLE STUDY

That they would be blessed with more
people coming along.

OPEN DOOR

For the open door starting up again soon –especially
prayer for visitation which we will be
doing soon, that we would not only be able to encourage our regular people to
come back but also that we could encourage new people to come along .

CHRISTIAN UNION

For the C U and the work among the students
carried out here which I believe will now be on a Monday.

OUR CITY

For all our brothers and sisters in Christ especially those who are involved in
Christian work. That the work of The Kingdom may be blessed and extended. Yes even for revival. For all the various facilities ie
Police—NHS—Social workers—Fire services—Our local Council—-Prison services etc And perhaps above all pray for our children through out the city who may be in any danger. Pray for protection from any evil that could touch them.

THE WORLD

C S W and the work they do around the world with persecuted Christians but they ask especially for prayer for Columbia all this week.

Christian Institute who I believe do a great work for what I would call persecuted Christians in this country.

F E B A Ask for Prayer for Iraq

Friends International

I V M and the work of Suresh and Roja.

For family and friends and
ANY OTHER POINTS that God lays on your heart
